About James McLoughlin
Jame McLoughlin is a visual artist whose practice led research is drawn from his interest in the intersection between the human and non-human. Through an expanded print practice and use of materiality, his research informs and filters throughout his work that includes the figurative and passages of abstraction.
James completed his MFA in Fine Art from Limerick School of Art Design in 2025 and received his BA (hons) from NCAD in 2023.
Thoughts behind the work
-
… printmaker working in mixed media, with materiality and print playing a significant role in my work, utilising natural and manufactured materials to create work that reflect on the clash of the human and the non-human.
My interest in the interconnectedness between the human and non-human and our relationship with the wider environment of the natural world sits at the core of my practice and writers like Donna Haraway and Timothy Morton have influenced my interpretation of this relationship. I am drawn to the figurative and to themes of nature and where they intersect is often disruptive, if not disastrous.
